Volunteer Info – June 1, 2019

Saturday, June 1, 2019
Time: 9:00 a.m. thru 4:00 p.m.
Meeting Location: Unity Square Community Center
Address: 81 Remsen Avenue, New Brunswick
Parking is available for volunteers at Paul Robeson School and Lord Stirling School

Responsibilies: As volunteers, we trust in you to bring your energy, and skills to work together and allow participants to experience the city in a unique way. It is your responsibility to be proactive, engaging, and outgoing so that all participants feel welcome.

Check In/Check Out Policy: Volunteers must check in during the morning, and check out with the volunteer coordinator (Chris) when your duties have been completed. If you do not, you will not receive your proof of volunteer hours. The hours are from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. If you need to leave early, please let us know before you are sent out for your assignments.

Carry In/Carry Out Policy: We believe in keeping our city clean. Trash containers will be available on the route. When you arrive at the location of your activity, you are expected to make sure it is clean and presentable. Remember: you will be playing and interacting with children, so we want a safe a clean place for them to enjoy along the route. When your activity is finished, you must pick up any items or litter that was left in your zone.

Dress Code: If you have ever joined us before and received a Ciclovia T-Shirt, we would like to see you wear it. Whether it’s green, white or red – if it says “Ciclovia,” you’re one of our team. If you have not previously volunteered with us, just be comfortable.

Weather: IF heavy rain or thunderstorms are predicted on Sunday, we will post an announcement on our Facebook regarding the event’s cancellation. It is your responsibility to check our Facebook in reference to the status of the event. IF there is a cancellation announcement will be made by 8:00 a.m.

Should I bring anything else?
The temperature for tomorrow will be in the 80s. If you need anything else to keep you cool, please bring it.

Lunch will be provided, and water stations will be available in various locations along the route. The sun can also be intense, so I recommend sunscreen or whatever you use to protect your skin.

Thank you again for your willingness to be part of this event. We look forward to working with you.
